We carved our first family pumpkin last night. Well, we did do one last year, but this was the first year the kids actually participated to some degree. I drew up a few small sketches and then Brooks said, "Daddy, make one like this..." and he flipped his head back and laughed. So, I drew one with a huge smile, small eyes and nose, and he said "Yeah!" Maddie agreed. They really thought it was great, but said the inside of the pumpkin was "'custing" (or disgusting). They loved it, though, and at the end, Maddie said "Goodnight, pumpkin, see you in the morning." What a sweetheart she is!
Brooks had his first field trip this past week. They visited a pumpkin patch. Brooks seemed to have a really good time. Nicole was able to attend as well. Brooks is really enjoying school and we can tell he is learning a lot, especially letters, sounds and numbers. It is great to see him advance and really try to understand things.
Maddie received her first haircut recently, courtesy of Brooks. Nicole was able to shape it up pretty good, except it is a little uneven and one side is really short. She has bangs now and Nicole trimmed it up all the way around. It turns out, the bangs and the cut are really cute on her. The other bonus is that she can see again.
I got some really cute photos of the kids recently outside, so enjoy. Maddie has figured out how to steal my heart even more by saying spontaneously, "I love you so much." Brooks will often say "I love you guys all" What cute kids we have.
Baby number 3 is on the way, still no idea what it is. We are totally unprepared. Nicole told me today that in 8 weeks, she'll be full term. WHAT? that is crazy. We haven't painted, don't have the crib or anything. But, hey, its the third one, right? Maddie, we can tell, is going to be a great big sister. She has recently taking to caring for her baby dolls a lot more. And if when we say the blessing at dinner, she is sure to thank God for the baby. Sooo cute!
